Ethnomedicinal plant use value in Lower Swat, Pakistan

Background: Plant-based traditional or folk medicines hold a great deal of promise as the foundation for medications different diseases. Hence, purpose present study is to document and preserve knowledge among people Lower Swat. Methods: The field survey was conducted in 2018–2021, 90 participants were interviewed using semi-structured questionnaire. Information collected predominantly from practitioners, who are thought have comparatively more experience herbal medicine. During discussions, notes taken on participants' demographics, plant names, parts used, methods preparation. data analyzed through statistical indices Microsoft Excel (2016). Results: It found that 118 species represented by 107 genera 62 families used various medicinal purposes. Our findings depicted herbs (57.5%) most commonly compared trees shrubs, while leaves (37.06%) part therapeutic Lamiaceae (16 species) important family, followed Rosaceae Asteraceae (7 each). Among modes preparation, decoction, drying, heating, infusion applied approaches. also qualitative such relative frequency citation (RFC), use report (UR), fidelity level (FL) value (UV). highest RFC (0.96) recorded Mentha spicata Foeniculum vulgare FL Berberis lycium (78%) and, Ajuga bracteosa (70%).
